Picture & Art Hanging, done to our standard

Our picture hanging service is for anyone who would rather spend Saturday enjoying their walls than measuring them. We plan the placement with you, mark it with a laser, and use hardware rated for the piece, whether that's a framed photo or a heavy oil painting in a gilded frame.

We handle originals and framed pieces with clean hands and care, protect the floor below, and patch any test holes so nothing gives away the work.

What's included

  • Placement planning: centered on furniture, walls or architectural features
  • Laser-leveled marks, measured twice before the first hole
  • Hardware matched to the weight and the wall: hooks, cleats, D-rings or security hangers
  • Careful handling of framed art, canvases and mirrors
  • Bumpers so frames hang straight and stay put
  • Test holes patched and touched up
  • Floors protected and all packaging taken away if you'd like

Our standard

Our founder is a self-described perfectionist, and every picture & art hanging job is held to his standard: measured twice, laser-leveled where it matters, finished cleanly, and reviewed with you in a final walkthrough. We arrive on time, protect your floors and finishes, and leave no dust behind.

Common jobs

Art hanging for every piece and every wall

Heavy art and large canvases

French cleats and heavy-duty hangers anchored into framing so large pieces stay secure and sit flat against the wall.

Plaster walls

Plaster can crack if it's nailed. We drill pilot holes and use plaster-appropriate anchors or framing for a clean, secure hang.

Mirrors

Mirror installation with Z-clips, cleats or J-channels depending on the mirror, set dead level, including over vanities and mantels.

Stairwells and two-story walls

Staggered stair runs that follow the pitch of the stairs, and tall foyer walls that need ladders and a careful eye.

Rehangs after painting or moving

We take pieces down for painters and put them back exactly where they were, or rework the layout for a new home.

Security hardware

Locking hangers for high-traffic areas, kids' rooms or rentals, so pieces can't be knocked or lifted off.

Questions

Picture & Art Hanging FAQ

Do you offer art installation in DC?

Yes. We do art installation and picture hanging in homes across Washington, DC, Bethesda and Silver Spring, including heavy pieces, mirrors and full gallery walls on plaster or brick.

How high should art be hung?

A common gallery standard puts the center of the artwork around 57 to 60 inches from the floor. Over a sofa or console, we hang relative to the furniture so the piece and the furniture read as a group. We'll fine-tune it with you on site.

Can you hang heavy art on plaster walls?

Yes. We drill instead of hammering, use the right anchors or hit framing, and choose hardware rated well above the piece's weight.

Do you hang mirrors too?

Yes, including large and heavy mirrors over mantels, vanities and entry consoles. Mirrors usually go up on cleats or clips rather than wire.

Can you work from my designer's layout?

Absolutely. Send the plan and we'll follow it exactly, or flag anything that won't work with the wall before we drill.
